The Spotify Playlist, Fall Edition
Put this in your tape deck
My Dad and I like to send one another links to songs we are currently listening to. This has been something that has been ongoing for years, and before we were sending them through text, we were burning CDs with our favorites and swapping them back and forth. There’s always been a curious type of sound that we both agree on, what we call “windows down, night time, heat lightning music”. It’s not so much a genre, but a feeling. Think Phil Collins In the Air Tonight, or Massive Attack’s Teardrop. I think the best way to understand it is to be in the perfect moment with the songs. I’ve experienced countless nights that fit the description above, and a certain sound just meshes perfectly with the atmosphere of the setting.
I also get this feeling for certain songs when it comes to fall weather. There’s a certain sound that I lean into in the autumn months, something that I can visualize and feel alongside the turning leaves and tweed. In the playlist linked below, you’ll find a tasting menu of this sound. It’s a mixed bag, and it may not be for everyone, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless. Accompanying the playlist, I put together a fall inspiration album for your viewing pleasure. Shuffle it up and see what you find. Behold!
